The City of Parkland is on Facebook!
The City of Parkland has joined other government agencies across the country in using social media networking as a way to reach the community. The City of Parkland has launched a Facebook page which is located at www.facebook.com/copfl or just click the “Like Us” button on the main City of Parkland webpage at www.cityofparkland.org. Watch for community events, educational information, or just interesting facts and so much more on our Facebook or Web page. If you enjoy what you see, be sure to “like” us.

City of Parkland is looking for residents to sit on City Advisory Boards
The Mayor and City Commission seek expressions of interest from City residents desiring to serve their community on a City Advisory Board. Currently, the City is seeking applicants for the following Boards:
• EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD
• PARKS & RECREATION BOARD
• PLANNING & ZONING BOARD

The Perfect Interview

Tech ‘Toons for children ages 8 and up
Saturday, February 23: 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Children will learn how to create animations using images and sounds in an online studio. The students will then use their imagination and creativity to tell their own story through a digital cartoon. Registration is not required. Students will be seated in the order they arrive at the City Hall Training Room. Training Room opens 10 minutes prior to start of class. Microsoft Word for Mac NEW
Tuesday, February 26: 5:30 to 7:00 PM
Become familiar with Word 2011 for Mac including the ribbon and creating and formatting basic documents. Computers are not provided. Bring your fully charged MacBook (laptop) installed with Word for Mac 2011. This workshop will be conducted In the Library Meeting Room. Registration is not required. Celebrate Dr. Seuss

Teen Advisory Group Meeting

Join the City of Parkland Teen Advisory Group (TAG) sponsored by Marrecau and Rodriguez Orthodontics and become a leader in your community and create programs and experiences you would like to see offered in Parkland for teens. This program is free of charge and is offered to students 13-18 years of age. Community service hours are earned for all time spent at meetings and volunteer opportunities will be available. Back by popular demand, the City of Parkland and Marrecau & Rodriguez Orthodontics is proud to present Snowfest! There will be 20 tons of real snow, bounce houses, an ice skating rink and much more! Registration may be done through WebTrac or at the Parkland Amphitheater. Preregistration will end on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 2:00pm. This event is for Parkland residents only. Pre-registration tickets are $7 and pre-registration ends on February 22, 2013. The City of Parkland is proud to announce “Polynesian Show” at the Pine Trails Park Amphitheater on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 7:00pm-8:30pm Presented by the Law Offices of McFarlane & Dolan. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to join your neighbors for this spectacular FREE family event and performance. There will also be a Food Trucks at the show beginning at 6:00pm. Parkland Kids Camp Summer Recreation Registration
Beginning March 4, 2013
Parkland Kids Camp is a summer recreation program for children ages 5 to 11 (kindergarten through grade 6). Children must be five years of age by June 17, 2013 to enroll in the program. The City of Parkland will begin accepting registration for Parkland Kids Camp beginning March 4 for residents and March 18 for non-residents. The camp location will take place at Heron Heights Elementary School for all sessions and the hours of operation are from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM with extended hours available in the morning from 8:00-8:30am and in the afternoon from 4:00-5:30pm. The program consists of sports, arts & crafts, games, special on-site activities, and field trips. Field trips are taken aboard air-conditioned motorcoach buses two to three days per week to facilities located in the tri county area such as movies, bowling, water parks, arcades, skating, museums, etc. For further details, contact GerriAnn Dougherty at gdougherty@cityofparkland.org or go to the City website at www.cityofparkland.org.

Parkland Teen Camp Summer Recreation Registration
Beginning March 4, 2013
Don’t get left out of the summer fun with your friends this summer. The City of Parkland will begin accepting registration for Parkland Teen Camp beginning March 4 for residents and March 18 for non-residents. Parkland Teen Camp is a summer recreation program for children ages 12 to 14 (grades 7-9). Children must have completed the sixth grade to be eligible for the program. The camp will take place at Westglades Middle School for all sessions and the hours of operation are from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM with extended hours available in the morning from 8:30-9:00am and in the afternoon from 3:30-5:00pm. The program is a Teen Travel Camp. Garden Contest

The City of Parkland wants to see your Garden! Parkland residents and businesses are invited to share their love of gardening with the community and receive recognition for doing their part to make our area greener and more beautiful. All submissions must be turned in by March 18, 2013 by 5:00pm.

Egg Hunt

Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Terramar Park from 9:00am – 12:00pm.This event is open to parkland residents only. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Registration can be done in person at the Parkland Amphitheater located in Pine Trails Park or online at www.cityofparkland.org through Webtrac. Each participant will receive a free egg bag to collect their eggs and no other egg baskets will be permitted. In addition to this amazing concert, there will be bounce houses and children’s activities and of course, birthday cake for everyone along with some of the best food trucks in South Florida.
