City of Parkland Holds One City Commission Meeting in July
The City of Parkland scheduled in the month of July only one City Commission meeting. Due to the July 4th Holiday and fear that residents may miss the opportunity to hear or attend the July 3rd meeting should they be out of town, the City Commission specifically schedule the July City Commission meeting to be held on July 10th starting at 7:00pm in the City Commission Chambers at Parkland City Hall, 6600 University Drive. Parkland Receives Acknowledgement from State regarding Quigley Park Concession Building
Governor Scott has congratulated the City of Parkland for Quigley Park Concession Building on Parkside Drive being one of only twenty-two (22) food service establishments in the State of Florida for not having any safety or sanitation violations within the past year during inspections by the State of Florida.

City of Parkland Awards Additional Money for Sodding
On June 19, 2013, the City of Parkland (“City”) City Commission approved additional money for Mullings Engineering (“Mullings”) to removal and install sod on City sports fields. Mullings has already started work at Terramar Park by replacing the entire sod on Fields A and B. To allow time for the sodding to take, these fields will be closed until the beginning of August. Once done Mullings will move to Fields 2, 3 and 4 at Pine Trails where they will replace a portion of the fields. Dinner and a Show

Adults 21 and older, join us for dinner a fun filled evening of entertainment including comedic genius Carl Guerra, the music styling’s of Michael Matone and his 3-piece band and comedic magician Gary Goodman. 4th of July Bike Parade

The City of Parkland is on a roll as it celebrates the 4th of July with our annual Bike Parade! Be sure to decorate your bikes, scooters, strollers and yourselves in a nice patriotic red, white and blue theme. Prizes will be given to those best decorated in different age categories. Cookies and cold water will be served free of charge. This event is open to all ages and registration is required on the day of the event. Parkland Kids Camp
Summer Recreation Registration
Parkland Amphitheater, 10561 Trails End

Parkland Kids Camp is a summer recreation program for children ages 5-11 (kindergarten through grade 6). Children must be five years of age by June 17, 2013 to enroll in the program. The City of Parkland is currently accepting walk-in summer recreation applications. All sessions of camp are located at Heron Heights Elementary School and the hours of operation are 8:30AM-4:00PM with extended hours available in the morning from 8:00-8:30AM and in the afternoon from 4:00-5:30PM. The program consists of sports, arts & crafts, games, special on-site activities and field trips. Field trips are taken aboard air-conditioned motor coach buses two to three days per week to facilities located in the tri-county area such as movies, bowling, water parks, arcades, skating, museums, etc. For further information, contact GerriAnn Dougherty at gdougherty@cityofparkland.org or go to the City website at www.cityofparkland.org.

Don’t get left out of the fun with your friends this summer! The City of Parkland is currently accepting walk-in registration for Parkland Teen Camp, a summer recreation program for children ages 12-14 (grades 7-9). Children must have completed the sixth grade to be eligible for the program. All sessions of teen camp will take place at Westglades Middle School and the hours of operation are 9:00AM-3:30PM with extended hours available in the morning from 8:30-9:00AM and in the afternoon from 3:30-5:00PM. Teen Camp is a travel program. Parkland Summer Camp Individual Week Registration

The City of Parkland is now accepting registrations for individual weeks for both the Parkland Teen Camp and Parkland Kids Camp. Registration can be done at the Parkland Amphitheater from 8:00AM-5:00PM. Spaces are limited in both camp programs. Individual weeks for residents are $175 and for non-residents, $200.

Parkland Library’s "Dig into Reading" Summer Reading Club
Every child age 2 years through 5th grade will receive a “goodie bag” for registering for the library’s “Dig into Reading!” Summer Reading Club. The children keep a reading log of books they have read to earn prizes all summer. The more books you read the more prizes you get! Sponsored byParkland Friends of the Library. Parkland Library’s “Beneath the Surface” Teen Summer Reading Club
Join our summer reading club and get free stuff! Read the books on your summer reading list or read whatever you want. What to do: Register at the Parkland Library and get a gift and reading log. Read one book, bring in your log and get a prize. Check out more books, read more and get more prizes. Turn in your completed reading log (six books total) by August 14 and you could win a grand prize too. Take a break this summer and visit the Parkland Library.
