Saturday, April 5th 10:30am

Yael was born of a dead mother and father who knows how to become invisible. Revka learned silence when her grandsons lost their voices after witnessing their mother’s brutal murder. Aziza became a boy to protect herself, and hates being forced to turn back into a woman. And Shirah will do anything to protect those she loves from the horrors of the world. The power and violence of these women is evident in every word of The Dovekeepers. Hoffman’s prose is vivid and unforgettable, scorching like the desert heat, and will stay with you long after you finish the last page. City Lowers Millage Rate and Adopts 2013-2014 Budget

On September 18, 2013 the Parkland City Commission adopted the City's budget for fiscal year 2013-2014 with a reduction of the millage rate from 3.9999 to a new millage rate of 3.990.  According to Mayor Michael Udine, "We were able to reduce the millage rate without a loss of level of service to the residents, in fact we were even able to increase services in some City departments by operating in an efficient manner."  In addition, Parkland did not raise the Fire Assessment Fee.  The Budget authorizes the funding for all City activities and programs and provides funds for services that the residents of Parkland depend on, such as police, fire protection, youth programs and activities, street maintnenance, and the day-to-day operation of the City.
